Kaleidograms

In 2010 I began experimenting with overprinting at least four times with the same form on the press. With exactly square paper, the symmetries were interesting, especialy as letterforms intersected in surprising ways. Slight changes in the paper guide would completely change the design. Then I added colors by striping the Vandercook ink rollers…then cut batches of paper in hexagons for six proofs, then settled on octagons. I made an octagonal jig of removable wood pieces so I could more easily see whether to add or subtract type, & in what positions.
